I moved to Atlanta in August of 1990. It's hard to believe it will be 32 years this summer! The first vivid memory of my arrival in Atlanta was the announcement Atlanta had won the 1996 Olympic bid. It was a great time to be in Atlantan!
Because of my love for fashion, I began my Atlanta work career at Gucci. Working at Gucci for several years, I met dozens of celebrities. Not only did I meet movie stars, pop stars and local celebrities, I also met celebrity DJs. At that time, I did not know DJs could be "celebrities". I began spending weekends at Atlanta clubs. The energy at Backstreet, Blu, The Cove and The Armory drew me into the nightlife seen. The dance club/ bar scene in the 1990s was all "Pre-Internet". In order to be social and meet other people, I found heading out to the bars and clubs to be intoxicating (literally and figuratively!)
In 1995, I left retail and entered into finance/banking. I flourished in retail banking at Bank South and NationsBank. I won numerous sales awards and helped bring my retail branch to the second highest sales grossing retail branch in Georgia! After being in retail banking for four years, I realized I had a talent for one on one customer relationships and I moved into the retail mortgage sector of finance. Again, I won many awards over my 13 years of mortgage originating.
